@crosscountrytc That's my point though...olympic XC would be even more dominated by Kenya and Ethiopia than track is...Other countries have a hard enough time finding 2-3 world class athletes for distance events as it is, adding xc would only significantly increase East African dominance in distance running..no other countries could provide even a slight amount of competition to Kenya and Ethiopia in xc, the slim number of elite distance runners other countries do have would still focus on track

@xMaKaVELii 'Weren't good enough to make it in a track event." That's because Kenya and Ethiopia have so many talented runners and you can only take so many. Some of them are actually better runners out on the field than they are on the track. My brother was one such runner. Plus, the distance events in track are still dominated by Kenyans anyway.

@MargaritasAntesPorco XC runners, like myself, are the iron mans of any and everyone! well at my high school we are! who signs up to run 3 miles as fast as they can??

no..they should allow cross country as a winter sport to bring in poor nations that cant afford to go to the games. African nations in particular..plus it can help athletes prep for other games

@rutabega234 exactly...as much as I would like to see xc as an olympic event, it would take away from track...my guess is that the best talent would stick with track and olmpic xc would just be dominated by random kenyans who weren't good enough to make it in a track event

XC should be an olympic event. i never really understood why it isn't. after all, they got mountain bike trail riding....and the triathlon as olympic events now. XC should be in there too.
