Damn , doesn't it any more raw than this ...cigarette filled club , cheap whiskey , knife fight in the parking lot ... Junior trying to get paid for his bad ass performance ..... just like Tabasco , aint no substitute .

what's the song about?

@kpls72 Playing The Blues is just a gritty, but a tad funkier thanks to the horns. Two of the top blues albums I've come accross!

First met Mr. Wells at Theresa's on a Monday night in the summer of 1966. Sat and talked music with me and the other guys in my cleancut college white-boy "blues" band and couldn't have been more gracious. Insisted we get up and do a couple tunes. Ran into him several more times over the years and he was always kind and friendly, never condescending and certainly would not brook being condescended to. Never stopped exploring and innovating. He was a great artist. Happy birthday Junior Wells.

Class Act no doubt.
All you blues fans out there, and all you wannabe blues peoples...if you ain't got it already, GO find HOODOO MAN BLUES by Junior Wells on Delmark Records. I got on to this lp in summer 67, and it's still in my all time top ten of blues LPS. It is the bona fide FIRST real blues lp....recorded as an ALBUM and not a collection of singles. It was done to represent what Jr and the band would sound like on a good night at Theresa's, etc. Hence the ENDINGS on all tunes.

@kpls72 It is a great blues album, and one of my favorites as well. Every song on it is a keeper.
