@matrix86 I am no expert at this, but nasality and ringing are to me too different things: ringing is possible because of good pitch control and blocking vibrato, which allows the harmonics of the different voices to line up. An opera singer won't get that particular ring because of vibrato.
Nasality is when you have air coming out through your nose, I don't see how that helps improve your harmonics.
Tim Waurick seems to have some classical training and no nasality, for instance.

How come you never do the entire song? I always feel like I'm left hanging on a cliff. Seriously, you're one of the best of the quartets here on Youtube

@matrix86 One of the few informative replies I have ever gotten. Thank you for the information. I'll talk to my director and see what he has to say. Thanks, though.

@Drum3r541 I feel the need to point out that barbershop singing doesn't use all the rules of poper vowel shapes. Just listen to Vocal Spectrum and Max Q. Those guys really know how to ring most chords they sing. Ringing is more difficult to achieve with proper (or "classical" as I say) vowel techniques. In barbershop, you go for a slightly more nasal tone which helps ring chords better. The ringing effect is what most barbershoppers strive for, which is easier to produce with a slight nasal tone

I know you said instruments. Your comment makes the claim that proper breathing isn't necessary for singing.. Which is wrong. I'm not saying you don't need to breathe properly to play trumpet, that's not what I meant at all. BUT, breathing + shoulders = not good. Trust me. It doesn't matter what you're breathing for, the diaphragm still controls and rules your breathing. I'd argue that you could get another 10-15 seconds easy if you breathe correctly.

@Drum3r541 um... I said instruments... I learned that you have to breath by expanding your lungs intil your shoulders lifted up. Im not a singer so I dont know what you guys do, but thats the way I do it. Ive held a note for 50 seconds before on my trumpet..

@ChrisisBass13 Yes, because you don't need to breathe properly for singing... Um, no, sorry, but you are DEAD wrong. The first thing, very first thing I learned in my voice lessons was how to breathe. Breathing with your shoulders cuts your lung capacity by at least 33%. Sorry, but correct posture and correct breathing are in fact, more important for singing. Ask any professional singer. Technique comes first. Always.

@Drum3r541 breathing with your shoukders only applies for instruments.
Yeah for real... Take some lessons bro. Breathing in with your shoulders = NO NO. You have a GREATT voice, but it could be SOOO much better with better technique.

@Drum3r541 You're absolutely right. Although I've improved a lot since I recorded this video, I still need to improve my singing technique. Sometimes, I'm feeling like I'm hurting myself... Not good!
I'll take care of it when I move to Stockholm i a couple of months! I hear they have a couple of good ones there =) thank you for the tip anyway!

OMG wow when the lead has the Ab post and the bass is on the C# that sounds so cool what note combination is that?

Bass and baritone are on a fifth, just like you said. Lead is moving from an E to an F#, and tenor is moving from a B to a Bb (so it's a C#m7 followed by an F#add9)
