Rhapsody in Blue - George Gershwin - New York City

Rhapsody in Blue is a musical composition by George Gershwin for solo piano and jazz band written in 1924, which combines elements of classical music with jazz-influenced effects. Although Gershwin himself spoke of the rhapsody as "a musical kaleidoscope of America", Rhapsody in Blue has often been interpreted as a musical portrait of New York City. Gilda....I sent it today to all my close friends,,even my boss...I am a professional pianist at a 4 star hotel in NY( 32 years ..same gig). I have been promoting the video with the passion of an "evangelical"...LOL . I am not easily impressed..but seeing this brought all the years of being in love with the Gershwin songbook to the surface. I am thrilled hearing back from you. Thank you again for this modern masterpiece. What a shame today's kids are not aware of truly great music and art!

Secondly, I'm assuming Gilda Tabarez did the videography...you couldn't have captured Gershwin's feeling of Manhattan any better. You are a GENIUS. What a wonderful merger of a great classic musical piece mixed with such exciting visuals. Thank you so much for putting that together (no small feat I'm sure) and posting it on this forum. I will keep this in the folder I've dubbed "songs I love" although to call this piece a "song" would be an insult. But I know what "songs I love" means to me. Gilda - Fantastico! What a lovely tribute to Gershwin and New York!! I looked for the WTCenter in the photos - not sure if I saw the twoers?

I saw Leonard Bernstein conduct AND play Rhapsody In Blue at The Hollywood Bowl in the early 1980's. My friend's Mom - who was with us - grew up in Leonard's neighborhood in New York. She said they used to call him 'Little Lenny Bernstein'.
