  • How low of a drwa weight do have to worry about hitting the shoulder blade?

  • @greatsantini7 Depends on the bow and the age of the bow mostly. If it is a 20 year old bow, I would maybe worry about it a little more than shooting it with a Bowtech Invasion.

  • Bad video for helpin people out always when using a compound aim low.. You were pointing to mid body... I aim for the white on the deers stomache right behind the shoulder... When you shoot the deer is gonna drop... The reaction time is is amazing on Whitetails if you aim mid body good luck... Only way I aim mid body is if they are 5-7 yeards over one of my pins.. If a deer is 25 yards then and only then will I put my 20 yard pin mid body right behind the kitchen!

  • @05buckhunter you must be shooting a slow or loud bow. I aim where I want to hit not where I think the deer will move to. I have killed deer with compounds and recurves and never had one "jump the string" or drop so low i made a bad shot. Sounds like you need to get a faster bow or make the thing more quiet.

  • I have a 70 lb bow but only a 26.5 inch draw will that still go through the shoulder blade with a rage broadhead. I have a short draw weight because i'm only 15.

  • I would avoid the big main bone that runs up the center of the leg but if you hit the plate directly in line with the back of the leg you should still be fine. I have a 27" draw and I hunt with 60 lbs and have no problem getting pass through even if i hit bone.

  • @ikesoutdoors Shoot a hoyt at 324+FPS you should look at my self filmed hunts quality isn't the best used a Flip to record them first one I self filmed went threw both shoulders second was money and a pass through... only deer I haven't had a pass threw was the first one I filmed on my own, and it busted threw both shoulders videos on my page... so i'm not upset... And you can tell its not loud :)

  • good job explaining. I'll have my 11 year old son watch this one.

    Keep up the good work!

  • @ikesoutdoors Use a 75lb With muzzy mx3 then ur broad head will do great if u hit the shoulder some deer walk off like there not hurt but if u do hit in the shoulder give him awhile like 2 hours before checking

  • only negative thing i have to say. dont shoot a deer from the ass end! ( 6:24 )

  • Hey dude with the compound I disagree with your statement about smashing through the shoulder bone. That might be the case for whitetail but I'm an Aussie and I hunt red and fallow deer and it's a lot different there bone structure is a lot different to a whitetail their bones are STRONGER so no matter the poundage of your bow you most likely will not get a good clean kill.

  • you can get more kinetic energy from a faster arrow compared to a heavier one because the kinetic energy equation goes like this mass x (velocity) squared= KE. Speed is actually the most important factor. KE can be gained by adding weight but I like finding the best balance of speed and weight to max out my KE
