This episode was so hard for me to watch. My twin sister was stillborn (in 1966). Back in those days, parents were not encouraged or even allowed to hold their stillborn babies, so my mother never got to hold her. I remember blaming myself for my twin's death because I lived, even though I knew deep down it was no one's fault. To this day, I still struggle with that unexplainable emptiness in my heart.

The cord was wrapped around my daughter's neck when she was born, luckily she survived and is 2 years old now

So sad when the doctor asks if they would like to see the baby. Kem is saying No, yet you can tell that Carter is thinking yes.. Oh goodness. This show always had a way of really making you emotional.

Amazing acting. I love this show. I remember watching this when I was a teen, and bawled like a baby, but it has so much more meaning now.

This story line was just heart wrenching. Noah and Thandie gave BRILLIANT performances. They both deserved an Emmy for this!!!!!!!!!

This was such a amazing and sad episode I mean god I don't even want to imagine what that would be like to loose a child like that, I don't think I could ever smile again.

That doctor is such a cold-hearted bitch. I know she must see that kind of stuff all the time, but she didn't even reach out to Carter and Kem.
I think the scene where Carter cries and hugs his dad is really good. it shows that he really loves his dad.

@scorzi You are right, it is VERY important that if you lose a child like that, that you hold the baby, she has to say good bye it would be her only chance to do so.

Noah Wyle is a phenomenal actor, so emotional and evocative (and in my opinion underrated). I genuinely feel connected to Carter and what he and Kem are going though. The acting talents are one of the many things that make ER one of the greatest shows ever.
He did an AMAZING job of crying! Their acting was phenomenal, So much emotion. I am eternally looking for scenes like this and this has to be my utmost favorite! =) ='(
