I've had six Bassets over the last thirty years and that Basset is too thin.

umm no they don't and if you have two dogs that look like that, then there is something wrong with them or the breeder. Maybe yours' aren't pure bred or you aren't feeding them enough. The average weight is 60-65 lbs.

It's not too thin, different lines of bassets (from different countries of origin, breeders, etc) come in different sizes. Mine are both thinner than most we see and our vet says they are ideal.
