I say carry how you want, where you want, unless prohibited by law. I open carry most of the time. No business I've been to has a problem with it except Costco. Guess what... Costco no longer gets my business.

UPDATE: I got my CPL

  • I open carry in NC and while I don't have a lot of issues like that they do come up. It's an issue of an uneducated public that causes the question in the first place. If we had an effective National Carry Day in the states where it was legal, it would force the media to address the issue and inform the public that this isn't a crime. How many AR vids have you seen with posts like, "Is it legal to own that gun?" It's just ignorance and we need to educate the public. Frustrating.

  • @humbleranger

There's nothing "f you" about it. Plain and simple, if they don't want me to carry, I won't give them my money, thus the proverbial "slap in the face."

You sound bitter, or like you hold some sort of resentment toward me simply because I open carry and you don't like it. It's not "fing" anyone. If it is, show me proof.

Complacency is the biggest danger to any of our rights. If we are afraid to exercise them out of fear of them being taken, the other guys win.

  • @tehbbqlolz Oh God...kid..spare me. A young bull and an old bull on top of a hill. Down below are a bunch of cows. Young bull says, let's run down and f one of those cows. Old bull says, let's walk down and f'm all.

This has nothing to do with complacency...it's about being smart and wise when picking and choosing your battles.

    Good luck.

  • @tehbbqlolz do what ya want kid...just keep me out of the line of fire. Personally, I respect your right for open carry but also fully believe it's bad for the gun community and that you only add fuel to the fire when you don't need to by getting a lot of people on the gun control side that would not be there if you carried concealed. I know kid, your young and you have a f you attitude to those people but you're also fing the rest of us in the process and I for one don't appreciate it.

  • @humbleranger

I've heard your argument before, show me any documented instance of it happening and I'll consider it valid. Otherwise, I've yet to hear of it. I have a documented instance of open carry deterring a crime. Since it won't let me post a link in a comment, do a Google search for Kennesaw Waffle House and look for the article on Examiner.com and read it.

  • @tehbbqlolz I know it's your right, I just don't get why you want to carry open because in my opinion carrying concealed reduces your risk as a potential target. If you're an aggressor, you're going to want to eliminate any obvious threats (I.e. the open carry guy, BEFORE I rob the cash register).

I understand the counter argument that a display of force would reduce the threat, I'm not buying that argument. Especially if you're a civilian.

Since Costco has a no weapons policy in place, concealed or open, I'll respect it. Their property, their rules. Also, if you read the description, I did get my CPL. I got it mostly for being able to carry loaded in a car, and to have the option of CC when I want. I do a mix of both, but mostly OC. In the two years I've been OCing, I've educated several people. Washington has a large and growing OC community, and the education continues. We are making a difference.

  • @tehbbqlolz Com on kid, you're smarter than that. It's not defeatist to quit banging your head against the brick wall to get to the other side..or to throw the baby out with the bath water as you might be doing here. There's a reason you shop there..now you're not when all you have to do is get a CPL and carry concealed. As a Life NRA member and former Army Ranger who hangs with a lot of NRA members...I'll tell you most will agree with me on this. Drive on, brother..your life, your decision.

  • @humbleranger

Now suppose all the people who say "It makes no difference" decide to open carry? Instead of joining the "It's pointless" mentality, they go for it. Suddenly, there are many more visible, lawfully carried firearms. Think about it... if everyone who thought like you decided to fully support open carry, would it make a difference?

  • @humbleranger

For the sake of terminology... Washington doesn't have a CC permit, they have a Concealed Pistol License (CPL).

Although it may not have a massive effect now, it's that sort of defeatist attitude of "Well it makes no difference so don't bother trying" that completely kills movements. What if a quarter of the members of the NRA decided "I'm going to open carry, and if a business doesn't like it, they will no longer get my money." Even an eighth of the NRA?

  • Dude..I agree...however, open carry numbers are so low, you not shopping there will never the impact you need for them to change. I'm an NRA life member so I certainly support your thoughts on this but just know, you're not going to have an impact. You're better off just going out and getting your CC permit. I live in Washington and it's very easy to obtain. Godspeed.
