This is our 2nd attempt at ylod permanent fix, so far our ps3 is lasting about 200 hours of use then requires a quick reheat on the rsx graphics chip(top chip), we are hoping to find a long lasting fix. please note I am a qualified electrician and do not advise you do this work if not competent

why couldnt sony just put a power breaker in the fat version? did they do this for money so that people could buy the slim if they break their fat?
its so retarded that microsoft bothered to put a power breaker in their fat 360, yet sony didnt even try.
i had way too damn much ps3 borderlands/mw2 save mods on my ps3. it sucks.

@621elijah
ive used the hair dryer trick and it fixed mine for the past 4 times but it still gets ylod but i use a fan to keep it cool and it lasts longer

@hussa15 i did some thing you did but not sure why ps3 only stay on for 40 secs then shuts off... I wish I taken call of duty that came out last year out before it shuts off.

@621elijah
you will need a fan somehow.
fixed my ps3 with heat gun, Thermal Paste and it lasted longer but the fan always kicks in when playing a game, and now im using a fan

hey man just wondering if you did the temporary ylod fix (not reball) and just kept the ps3 fairly cool would this keep the ps3 from ylod'ing for longer
621elijah 8 months ago
at least put a dust-filter.
but this is beyond retarded. the air is meant to come from the side of the PS3 and then out the back, what this does is cause a 3rd entrance/exit which all it does is disrupt the air flow...thus the cold air may end up being pushed back, or the hot air to be sucked in.

is it still running? or has it died again?

hi if you pull the power supply of the motherboard there is 2 pins sticking up, you can solder your wires to this (12v dc) at the base of the pin, getting the wires the wrong way will just mean the fan run different direction. we are pretty sure that the power supply on ours was overheating and causing ylod, we have now been running 3 months with the extra fan pointing at the psu, see other vid

can you show or explain how you wired the fan into the power supply. This is the one bit i'm not sure how to do. I bought a cable splitter and a fan but the sony fan cable plug is different to normal pc. thanks
