  • what was the black stuff you put the handle on with? and what kind of oil did you use?

  • do you know how/why a burl forms on a tree? great stuff btw

  • @SensaeBushcraft its because it has been cut, or broke in this case the limb is missing if you look you can see where it was..,the sap forms over the cut and continues to swell,this then grows as a deformity,as solid wood,birch in my opinion makes the best burls...hope this helps..thanks

  • cool bowl, nice work. That is not a burl though. It is a healed over branch stub btw.
