I've interpreted his music the same way the drug references to me are just gritty metaphors for the out of control feelings. Except in "The Poison" I think that is pretty literate. I think in that song one kind of goes with the other.

like most of his stuff, he interlaces drug addiction with love (weather losing love, or just being addicted to it). The Whole EP isn't any different. It has a lot of drug symbolism, but I tend to think it's about uncontrolable feelings. But it could just be my experience.

I like that scream-y part along with his real melodic voice its so opposite but it totally works and shows both sides to the song.

I wonder why he changed the line. The whole (pun intended) story of Whole is this addiction, primarily to heroin, and the recovery and redemption from the Hole Fixer.

Could be some bullshit from the venue, not wanting even more outright nods to H.
