hydraulic bearings use pressurized oil in a chamber, once you break that seal it will no longer be a hydraulic bearing

TY for the guide IMO its easier to buy a new fan

@CubeComputerChannel Actually they do. The real problem is that AVC is just another cheap manufacture of inexpensive Chinese products. Not as cheap as some, but still on the lower end of things. When I buy replacement fans I stick with the old standards like Panasonic, Comair Rotron (aka the original Muffin fans) or the incredibly reliable German made Papst. You will have to pay 4 to 6 times as much but you won't be replacing it for a decade or two.

I actually just put some 3 in 1 oil on it and it seems that enough was able to go through to lubricate the bearing without removing that plastic cover. It now runs quietly, at least for now.

@chaplin404310 I've seen a few fans that have the covers like that, but I prefer drilling the hole to be sure that the oil gets to the bearing very well. I now use Marvel Mystery Oil on fans as it is a better, and much cheaper oil.

The manufacturers want people to buy a new fan not fix old ones, everything is made to be one time use disposable.
