  • Is Shanghai rolling over a leading indicator for US stocks?

  • I think there is something to be said between China and the US. China has been leading us up. It bottomed at the end of October and rallied 125% before peaking earlier this month. The US Market bottomed in March, a little bit of lag time. Since August 4th, Shanghai is down 23%, during that same time, the S&P 500 is UP about 1%. Could that mean that the US market is ready to decline soon in the coming months, possibly. Only if that relationship holds true.

  • Breakout on the VIX today!

  • I think the low volume is just a characteristic of the summer months, not necessarily a driving force for the market.

As for the elections, I'm not sure if it will affect the markets, at least not so much the US markets. There is an upside bias right now. So any sort of good news will be a catalyst for people to buy. But watch for those price levels that I mentioned. It'll let us know which way traders will take the market when either support or resistance is broken.
