  • What good will your EMP protected computer do you if the whole damn internet is down from EMP damage? I guess maybe you can still use your lap top to watch your porno DVDs after an EMP attack?

  • @RayAir1 - First, you're blocked. Second, a laptop is good for education -for instance, I have 4GB of educational tools to train children, who just happen to be the key to any future we hope to build if an EMP ever did occur. Folks like yourself are just bitter or plain ignorant, all I can do is pity you. Third, the "internet" was designed as a military tool and it can withstand the heaviest nuclear strikes. YOU won't have internet, though. The Military will.

  • Your better off finding a used pair of Motorola Sabers or Astro Sabers on eBay that already have DES or DES-XL installed and with an encryption key in them. Or buy your own key loader. DES will stop anyone but Big Brother with its 72,000,000,000,000,000 possible keys.

  • @RayAir1 - I already have sabers and programming them isn't exactly a fun time.

  • @brokor1

Who cares about having to program in frequencies and zones. Just program them once and you're good to go. And loading a key is a cinch.

  • @RayAir1 - And then you change batteries and you have to reload...nah. You know, I have used them and they suck. If they work for you, cool. I like to be more versatile and be capable of networking with a larger group. The i355 phones are affordable, easy to use, require very little setup, and between any 2 phones with the identification code, very VERY secure. They are smaller, easier to use, and disposable. Secure enough for anything except Rambo himself. No games, no hassles.

  • can that scanner pick up p25 digital?

  • You owe me a new keyboard! I spewed with your: "Dude, it's like, two thousand eleven...". comment.

Good info, no hype. I'll be mulling this over for tactical, private comms ideas.

    Thanks,

    Ray

  • Fuck sabers who cares about them they cost to much. I355 is a rugged work horse i have had a few for my boostmobile service, now that im getting there service back im looking for thease model phones.

  • what freq are those Trisquare operating at?

  • Respond to this video... There exists CIVILIAN HOBBY GRADE equipment to track the frequency hopping used with Nextel DT. Port that received signal to your lap top using DV Dongle or DSD 1.4 and you can decode. Only disadvantage is you will need a high gain directional antenna and have to be within 1/4 mile of your target. Now compare trying to eavesdrop on DT to trying to eavesdrop on a signal that's DES encrypted. Nextels are not made for COMSEC.

  • @brokor1

Uh yeah, Nextel DT is "very VERY secure"? First off, it is NOT encrypted. Nextel DT uses the 900MHz ISM band. A requirement to use that band is that the device must use FHSS. It's a requirement here not a security feature although it helps with privacy but not as much as the digital. DT frequency hopping happens every 90mS and the voice is VSELP (OLD digital vocoding technique). Cont....

Look, you're thinking is on the right track, but you just don't have the right equipment or technical knowledge.

I'm just giving you "tough love" (for the hobby) man. I'm just trying to help you. Maybe one day you'll understand and hopefully that day isn't the day the SHTF.

  • @brokor1

ANd how are you going to charge your lap top after an EMP attack? From the fried electrical grid?
