MIT's Richard Lindzen, one of the most-respected climatologists on the planet, speaks to the second annual International Conference on Climate Change in New York. Lindzen warns that scientists who embrace global warming alarmism are not necessarily good researchers. And that skeptics of global warming are not necessarily good researchers either. The point, he argues, is to stay focused on the facts as they can be determined and to follow the science, not the political debate.

  • Dr. Linzen is being charitable here. In a recent paper he demolishes the hypothesis that increasing levels of CO2 lead to decreasing ambient heat leaving the earth's atmosphere. The propagators of the man-driven climate change myth are delusional and/or nefarious neomarxist types. End of story.

  • I like the cherry Kool Aid.

I wonder what reports you read? They have big words in them.

The IPCC perhaps? Here is Dr. Lindzen's 2001 rejection of the consensus report of the non-scientists (they used HIM as one of the consensus! He didn't care for that): eaps.mit.edu/faculty/lindzen/Testimony/Senate2001

  • @Reasonjester

Every major national/international scientific community is delusional? Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me......and it's BS. Climate change is accepted as well as evolution....read a journal for once......Linzen is a very bright man, but his assessment is flawed....check it out. Lindzen also claims there is no "consensus", when there is a very clear one. The National Academy of Sciences, of which he is a part of, included. ppl bet him money if global temps would drop or rise.

  • @Reasonjester

Reasonjester, it's the free-market that s in control of the Climate Myth. Ask yourself Cui Bono? It' is ironic especiall coming from a conservvative "free market" coalition like The Heartland Institute.

You are confusing Stalinism and centralized Beurocracy with Marxism by the way.

  • So frustrating that the only outlet for this accomplished and honest scientist is a conserative organization. There are many on the left who oppose the "official concensus" of Anthropogenic Global Warming. The Free Market, something that the Heartland Institute promotes, is the cause of the global warming myth. Nuclear Reactors, high priced oil and multi billion dollar derivative energy trading schemes are very lucartive and keep the wheels Capitalism moving.

  • What? Where's the data? This is not science, it's a conspiracy theory! NASA GIS data demonstrates his hypothesis is not founded on any evidence, but conjecture. Where's the scientific method?

  • Where is the default '13 people like Al Gore' comment?

    P.S God bless Richard Lindzen

  • The speech is cut out at 6.36 ish. I would have liked to hear what the crucial thing is that scientist need to understand, but most of the argument seems to be cut out.
