Hi - nice dish! How about using an old umbrella - foldable and cover the inside with aluminiumfoil/ mylar foil - to see how it works - or even go big and use a large sun-umbrella or umbrella-tent?

works better if you point it at the sun put some coat hanger on that bar get a skillet an cook some grub brotha!

here is the way you can use what you made. send the sun light into a cone shape focal point into mirrored tubing and send that sun light down into a mirrored box where solar panels would be spinning to keep the solar panels cool or put in a cooling system but i think that will be a problem control the sun and make it work for you dish has to have robot arm to follow the suns path

Hey JDC I got 28 6x6 plates.
I am planing to use them for 12 volt set up.
I have a 20 plate setup +nnnn-nnnn+nnnn-nnnn and it draws 2.2 - 2.5 volts per plate.
Should I stick with 20 or go for the 28 plates?
What do you think?

to keep things even you with 4 n's you can go 21 or 26 plate ...I would do 26 ...

It is a great tool for survival and for fun.
Remember, heat and temperature are not the same.
A dish of 1 meter^2 will receive about 1,000 Watts of power. If you concentrate the 1,000 Watts into a small spot at the focal point, it will have the same 1,000 Watts.
A 42" dish is 13% larger in area than a meter diameter dish.
