Mourning Dove Portrait

A striking video of a Mourning Dove that includes several vocalizations. Note how he inflates his throat when he coos. Also listen for the twittering notes when he takes flight at the end.

The clips were captured in my front yard where I attract a great many birds to my feeders and a water source. The Mourning Dove perched on a dead limb and seemed unconcerned that I was standing nearby, wielding all my video equipment.

We call 'em 'pinheads' here because they sometimes do [to us] dumb things, e.g. chasing each other for no reason or sitting on the edge of the birdbath with their tails in the water
