  • Wahey :) Barbara is Polish :')

  • At least the USA had the hot rocker look from the 50s because of Elvis and James Dean, and because of the silver screen of old time Hollywood they helped give birth to the hot looks of the 20s, 30s, and 40s.

  • The British are more daring and rebellious and interesting when it comes to fashion and Biba, Viv Westwood, & McQueen are examples of this, whereas in Paris it HAS to be all black or black & beige and EVERYTHING has to be restrained, and that behavior has none of the youthful spirit or innovation. The mod look, the Biba look, the glam rock look, the punk look, the post-punk and new romantic look.... I hated the 1990s ultra-minimalism & anything else 1990s but everything else is fantastic!

  • I'm sorry but from at least the 1960s, Britain has been the best when it comes to fashion and overall 'looks' for me and when it comes to everyday, non-'designer' shopping for clothes and shoes. And it all seemed to start with genius people like Mary Quant, Barbara Hulanicki & Ossie Clark. I don't think that the French are better & more chic, nope (the Italians dress better than they do anyway to me).

  • I just cannot wait for the day when someone, whether it's Barbara or not, will come out with a makeup book with all of the tips and pics based on the Biba makeup look. It was the hottest ever, I know that. Hopefully someone else can do that with Brabara's blessing. The closest anyone ever came was the Kevyn Aucoin book where he made up Kate Moss to look like a girl from a Biba picture from the 60s or early 70s.

  • @DiggersDaughter I used to have a landlord(lady) who saifd that all that Biba clothes had was a great cut but that the quality was really bad, was that true? But then again how come people who collect Biba clothes have them all so well-preserved? Unless nobody has ever tried any of the actual clothes on before....

  • I love how Barbara said she didn't want Princess Anne to buy anything! ha ha ha!

  • God, I still miss Biba sooo much. It was the most amazing place ever and the clothes were fabulous. Barbara Hulanicki is a genius and has not been recognised for the major influence she has had on all forms of design over the last 40 plus years. Hula is my hero!!

  • My mum used to come down to london to get me dressed up in biba togs...I used to buy my friends biba accessories for the birthdays.
