I own one and I have not complains with. My camera stay on Cuba must of the time with extreme high humidity and hot and so far performace like a rock.
I heard there are issues with tthe auto focus. I am really looking forward to buying the HXR NX5, as upgrade to my Sony VX2000. I find manually focusing quite difficult. Especially with moving scenes. Indeed with ‘static’ interviews I could set it manually, Is there a easy reference to do this? I have had some issue where when later viewed through a large monitor, I realize the focus is bad. Especially when the subjects leans forward etc. Also with chroma keying (blue screen)
@fireblade1247 HDV is 1440 x 1080 and HD is 1920 x 1080 they are not codecs they are an image size, the AVCHD codec is the same codec used for blu-ray and is fast becoming an industry standard (for now haha) hope this helps.
