I'm A Clana Andd Clois Fan , but i Really Believe That CLANA is and was better idk , i just think if the writers actually gave them a chance to have a relationship withut any drama clois fans would love lana too ...

in the episode of Lois & Clark TV Series when Lois traveled to alternate world where Clark married Lana, Alt-Lana stopped Alt-Clark from using powers to save people. Adter Alt-Clark became Superman, Alt-Lana divorced him.

And that's exactly what we saw in Smallville. LOIS persuaded Clark to join football team. LOIS persuaded Clark to start working in Daily Planet. Clark was devastated when Lana "died" in Season 7. But when Clark thought that Lois died, he died with her.
