Game Description:

You play the part of a character in a piece of "interactive fiction," and it's up to you to solve the puzzles and overcome the obstacles your character will have to face throughout the game.

When you begin Noctropolis, you're just some guy who owns a bookstore. You also happen to be a huge fan of the "Darksheer" comic book series. Darksheer is a Batman-esque superhero (i.e. he doesn't have any actual super powers) and, with his partner Stiletto (a former supervillain converted to the side of the good guys) he is the sworn protector of Noctropolis. And Noctropolis is a city where it's always nighttime, thanks to a permanent ash cloud that hangs over the city (the result of some volcanic environmental catastrophe which occurred decades before the timeline of the story).

So one night, as you're leafing through the newest issue of "Darksheer" to hit the stands, a courier brings you a package which, to make a long story short, eventually transports you into the city of Noctropolis as...you guessed it...Darksheer.

Coincidentally enough, your arrival as Darksheer occurs at the same time that five of Darksheer's deadliest arch-villains decide to gang up on him after they're mysteriously released from incarceration.

It turns out that the real Darksheer had disappeared several weeks prior to your arrival. Nobody knows why, not even Stiletto. But now he's back! Only he's not, 'cause you're him and you have no clue what's going on.

It's up to you to find out who released your enemies while simultaneously trying to keep the newly freed criminals from wreaking havoc across the city of Noctropolis. And maybe, in the process, find a way back to the real world...

  • You have 280 Vids WOOW

  • I just played this game recently after randomly searching for a fun new(old) Point and Click game to play. I'm a huge Snatcher fan so I needed something even remotely similar..

The occasional cheesy voice acting isn't even all that bad, and most of the music is cool and nostalgic, with that old-school 80's sci-fi synth feel to it.

This is why 3d games will never rule entirely. Look at how beautiful the imagery in this game is. Especially the outside of the opera house and the chapel.

  • Well, it's no Dark Seed... but it's got hos.

  • @JustSiouxMe I know. I feel FEAR is much better than HL2 but it didnt score as highly... hmmmm, backhanders maybe ^_^ . HL2 engine is great to mod, and the mods are actually better and more creative than the game itself, which like you said is pretty much average.

  • @infinitesimotel Thankyou! Im so fucking sick of hearing people go on about what an amazing game HL2 is. Yes the graphics may be good and they did make the Havoc engine for it, but other than that its a pretty unremarkable, run of the mill shooter. Same goes for Halo.

  • I find it ironic that games nowadays are less geared to make people think, and use their faculties, and more to drooling over REAL wether effects and volumetric lighting as you jsut walk through a game and barely play it. There are some exeptions but as far as depth goes, ther are only a few that come close. And no, HL2 isnt one of them.

  • man I loved this game

  • Wow, for such an old game it looks amazing. It has a Dark City, Blade Runner vibe to it.

  • Yeah I reckon I could get stuck on this shit for 15 years.
