@blackrocknutt Hey, the band is supposed to follow the singer. But this rendition is beautiful! Just listen to Her. (the piano solo sucks)

Jazz singing 101: The singer is out front and is the conductor of all that happens behind Her or Him. The Singer Fronts The Band. The give the cues, slow or pick up tempo and dictate each solo given. (this piano solo was a non event).

Maybe most of these people should be listening and following Molly Cyrus. (her version - live and CD) I'm sure she'll never disappoint.

Deeway1963 You are correct! This is a brilliant performer and an even more brilliant performance. I speak as a Jazz Singer (New York) and actor. 1) the singer does NOT follow the band. The band follows the singer. ALWAYS! (not up for debate) 2nd. Listen to her cadence, gorgeous, enigmatic and forlorn. You could not do the lyric more justice. And I'm sitting and listening to the CD version. If you don't like live renditions, stay away from Jazz.

amazing. i love her and this song but... wtf? is she on drugs? =(

i loved her music when i heard recorded versions, but I was so disappointed hearing her live. Unlike here, she sounded exactly like her recordings. At least here she is 'improvising', but not sure if its better lol

She's not really listening to the band, or it's because it's jazz. don't like it. she needs a slap. it's feckin' stupid. I'm about to make her lonesome.
@rugshort No it's just bad. I've heard the recorded version from her CD and it's not bad. This version...it's like she started off time and not in a good "jazz" way. More like an amatuerish mistake way.

its the band who cant follow her. too stiff with the time and stuck on rushing the beat like it was a cowboy song. they need to listen to some billie holiday and joni mitchell to know how you follow a rubato singer.
