@randomwords7007 would you want to be the trapped african grey?? hundreds to a box?? waste, no water food, taken from the freedom of the jungle?????

@wildlifeguardian thats what we did :)

the wild african greys can also have caught some parasite or diseases from those muddy river banks. as it was spoken by the announcer of the clip. there are pros/cons for the animals foraging at these sites

can these bird get some kind of virus

I completely agree with the message of this video, but you also have to understand why these trappers are doing this. This area of the world is literally dirt-poor. You can't farm land like that and there are no industrial or service jobs to be had. As such, this may be the only way that these guys can feed their families.
It's easy to jump to conclusions at the safety of our computer but for many of these trappers, this may be a life or death deal.

Cool to see them in the wild

It makes me so happy to see so many of them flying free...but it's horrible to see the decoy birds suffer and to trap those wild birds just to be put in cages. I have a pet grey and love it dearly but she is also a free flight bird and flys daily. It kills me to see birds in cages. I think that trappers caught doing this should have their heads cut off with a pocket knife. That is absolutely horrible. Wild birds should be left free!
Better yet: ADOPT a homeless bird from a reputable parrot rescue organization in your area! There are sooo many who need a new forever home...

Thank you for posting this at Ruby's video site. Fortunately, we bought her from a breeder in Florida and she is home-grown. I have heard stories of how trappers put glue on tree branches to catch greys, also. I hope more is done to stop these inhuman practices. I encourage everyone who buys a grey to be sure it is bred in their country and not a wild bird that has been trapped.
