  • There will be a guild of silver smiths in new England, contact them, they usually know all eary makers and registered trades men so . Hope it works out 4 you, let us know, and put a close up of mark,

  • @steve89z Hey Guy, yes give a couple of real close up's of mark on video, and send a couple of close up photo's if possible to my email, and i will ask round here for you, we have a really good records library here and i will ask round for you & check the records this end if you like, no problem OK. Might take time though, but worth a shot...

  • Appointed on 8 Apr 1740 as Constable in Boston MA ....tephen married Hannah Hewes on 31 Mar 1736 in Boston MA.

    (Hannah Hewes was born on 19 May 1715 in Boston MA and died in Dec 1774 in Boston MA.)

  • One other thing, you find that silver objects, & ceramic objects copy design & styles, and your monkeys were also made in Germany, around a similar date up to 1815 I think, made by 'Meissen', cross swards mark, a whole group of moneys playing instruments, groups of 4 being prevalent, but 15 different ones done, check your design against 'Meissen' design.( 'Meissen' one's are MAD Money now to collectors) just goggle( meissen pottery monkeys)

  • you know what you can do. get it carbon dated and also send the bottom of the cup to a lab to test its contents. of course, you need to be gentle with it. idk, just a wild suggestion.

  • Meissen, a German pottery, made monkeys and they were similar date, they played instruments also, and dating silver, there were no marks put on at that date, I cant say when the assay offices began but it was latter than 1700s so,
