*READ* this before asking any questions. I get asked the same questions repeatedly and get sick of it even though I ask in the video to read through the past comments. If your comment doesn't get answered and I've deleted it, I didn't feel like wasting my time on it's stupidity.
*Why were we filming and why didn't we immediately get him away from this guy?
We tried to get him shortly after this but they wouldn't even hand me my horse back what so ever. They ran him inside till we got to his stall then just let go of him and moved onto beating on another horse. The entire audience was just like sitting around worshiping this guy. My mother was filming this while I was watching hoping at some point I would see why everyone thought this guy was great. When I stopped him and told him not to go any further he got really pissed off and so did pretty much everyone at the stable this was at.
*Not really a question but everyone who thinks they understand his reasoning behind this and support it.
His reason for this method was because Chase was "invading his space". Chase wasn't doing anything wrong and I never had a problem with him "invading my space" to begin with. He was hitting a horse who was doing nothing wrong.
*Why don't I have the original audio?
I can't have the original audio on it. The so called "trainer" complained about it and tried to make it a legal issue when I did. He claims everything he says and does is trademarked and I could be sued.
*Why didn't we do anything about it after-wards legally?
There was nothing we could do about it legally except show others to warn them about him.
*He wasn't hurting the horse, he was just training him!
There was a huge *WHOP* every single time his hand hit my horses face. You can tell by his reaction(flying sideways, wild eyed, touchy) that he is puzzled and freaked out. He doesn't understand what the guy wants, he has no clue what he is doing wrong and why he is being punished. He was headshy after this and had to get used to having a hand touching his head again. Chase is a very sensitive horse and doesn't handle things the same way a headstrong, stubborn, or defensive horse does. He takes pride in behaving well and is happy to do so. He once bit me when he was little, I gave him a loud no, a firm pop on the shoulder, and never again have I had that problem. Other than that this guy has been a dream come true. Training was so much more simple than on any other horse I've trained. In no shape or form was this the appropriate thing to be doing to any horse let alone one like him.
**Update**
May 2011: It's been quite a few years since this happened and Chase is doing good. We've moved to a completely different boarding place where he and my other horses feel a lot more comfortable and no one is using this "training" method on them. Unfortunately this guy is still out and about doing this crud to other horses though.
"Cheek Bop" or more commonly known as horse abuse.
Demo clinic "trainer" gone wrong. Demo clinic meaning no one but his clients knew what he was going to do or how it was going to work out. We stopped him after realizing this was just one big nightmare and he was doing a hell of a lot more damage than good.

"Cowboy methods" the fastest way to get a 1,000+ animal to not trust you or anyone else. That makes for a fun ride! I'm glad your horse is doing fine now. Personally, I would have knocked this guy in the dirt and let him sue me for it later. Specially if it was caught on tape. I've gotten between a farrier with a shoeing hammer and my horse. No one abuses my animals. NO ONE.

From what I can see in this video it doesn't look like the guy is hitting the horse at all. Just waving his hands in front of the horse's face. Considering that this horse is sensitive it would make sense that he would react this way with just hand waving. It would be better if we knew what the guy was actually saying.

@n1honeybee He is honestly hitting the horse in the face repeatedly. To hear him hitting the horse and what the guy is saying click the link for the video with audio which is given just shortly after the video begins.

@pannierama Just lots of love, trust, and bonding work. Don't force him into anything he's uncomfortable with. Use lots of patience and go at his speed. Gently and slowly take things a tad further each time you feel like he's ready to progress. Gentle talking and coaxing help a lot too.

In what way was this guy "beating" your horse? I completely agree that yes he did touch him in a inappropriate way - but he was in no way "beating" your horse. I think you need to look up the term "beating" dictionary.
Heatherhickman1986lo 1 month ago
@Heatherhickman1986lo Google beating definition. This is what I find right off the bat, "A punishment or assault in which the victim is hit repeatedly." Does that not describe the video? Yes, yes it does. Chase is the victim and he is being hit repeatedly in the form of punishment.
