On this side of the ring we have one Mrs. Sylvia Prowl--uh, Fowler. Scandalmonger Extraordinare. And on the other side? Everyone else.

This film is absolute genius. ♥

"There's a name for you ladies, but it isn't used in high society... outside of a kennel."

Critique it, please!

  • when i was at high school we put on stage this wonderful comedy..the result was pretty good and we had a lot of fun! I played as Sylvia who, in the italian version of the movie, had a sort of spanish surname (Mahlinas): they had to change it, otherwise it couldn't have been possible for Crystal to "mispronounce" it in a funny way

  • @Irinaz That's pretty funny! Yes, Fowler is much easier to "accidentally" mispronounce, haha. :)

  • Should've built in the Gymnastics scene with Joan Fontain.

    "I'm sooo exhausted!"

  • Ugh. I can't believe I didn't add that in there. Now that's just going to bug me forever. Damn you.

(Thank you for the compliments, BTW! Very much appreciated! =D)

  • Absolutely perfect! You couldn't have picked a better song to describe these 2 trouble makers. This movie was way before it's time. The remake with Meg Ryan et al couldn't hold a candle to this one!

  • Ah well, 1939 is often regarded as the greatest year (by classic films fans) not only because it was the year of Gone With the Wind. But yeah, I'm sickened that Barbara Stanwyck never won... Same goes for Irene Dunne, another true great...

  • I'm going to get some of that Jungle Red for my nails. :)

  • There is absolutely nothing fake about that cat fight at "Lucy's" Reno ranch between Russell and Goddard. They were Troopers in those days(!), no thought of 'body doubles' and each actress threw herself into the scene, and both came away with a scar or two that lasted. My all-time favorite comedy, every actress, even Shearer in the virtuous Mary Haines role, finds a way to make you remember her always. Built to last, 72 years old and the movie still never fails to entertain.

  • Haha, I love this so much..... Sylvia Fowler was pure trouble :)

  • This is fab!

A bunch of my friends rented the remake one night and it was torture! the original cast simply cannot be topped. Especially Roz Russell! Love it.

  • What a great video. I love this movie and Roz Russell is pretty funny in it. The remake is crap. Hollywood is out of ideas and so they have to remake classics. You can't remake Crawford, Russell, Shearer and Fontain.

  • This is SUCH a great video tribute to one of my favorite movies. Incredible job, thank-you!

  • @dagnabbitrabbit Auntie Mame is by far my favorite Roz movie!

  • I love Joan Fontaine!!!
