  • hey davie your flies always seem to stand out from the rest..

would a pheasant tail nymph work well on a small river/stream?

  • Hi fifanic,

Thankyou...It's a great fly for rivers and streams and even lochs as I have caught more fish on this nymph pattern than any other I have tyed....

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie, Do you have to use wire for this one?

Greatly enjoy your videos, from an Irishman in Newfoundland Canada.

PS: Managed to get Rimmel 60 seconds here!

  • Hi davidfay100,

I like using the wire the most but you don't need to, you can easily use a plain coloured or metallic thread with great effect..

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie Could you tell me is this fly anygood for stillwater please.

  • Hi TheEaglehawk4,

I worked for over 10 years at a trout fishery and if someone saw me catching fish when the fish weren't rising then they all knew I was fishing a pheasant tail nymph as it's by far the best fly you could have in your box. The colours that I used most were black, natural, claret, natural dyed lime green, all colours of olives and any other colour you can find is worth tying and trying..ATB Davie

Hi Davie, Wonderful series of tying videos! I was also intriqued by your background music. As always, it pays to be attentive till the end of class, and I noticed Sean McPhail as the composer. Possibly a relative? Would his music be available commercially?
