@mrltavern Prof. Perry's big problem is that she has the tendency to take grandiose postions based on her extensive knoweldge of the Civil Rights movement, even if it has nothing to do with the situation at hand. She tends to take the high-road in the discussion of race, but she also has a flare for pretension, which I think was on display here.

The Democrats have played their race card so many times, they've worn the spots off it. But Obama still has his Liberal dominated press in his corner for the next election. They'll carry his water till the last day's.
Regarding Ann Dunham, she had so many allies's, some say up to a dozen or more. Her past is as convoluted and as much a mystery as Barry's!

With all respect, Prof. Melissa Harris Perry is actually one of the better commentators out there precisely because she, unlike Sharpton, DOESN'T engage in the type of racial baiting common among the MSNBC commentators. For instance, she called out Lawrence O'Donnell for his being a dick to Herman Cain. I got angry when I heard about this too, but I think what Prof. Perry was trying to do was address people who were TRYING to make this about race, as opposed to her trying to do so herself.
