Dolly did not invite her. In fact, none of the honorees get to invite anyone. The KENNEDY CENTER keeps the preformers secret until they are announced on stage. "Our tradition of surprises and surprise guests is particularly special," says George Stevens, Jr., the show's longtime co-producer.
