Can,t help but think of "The Odessa File" every time I hear this song, I was stationed in Germany from late March of 1982 to late May of 1984 in Schweinfurt (In the Bayerische Ostmark if I,m not mistaken) I must say I enjoyed being stationed in Germany better than Hawaii. It,s a beautiful country

@mainedame The album "I Wish it Could Be Christmas Forever", on CD, on Amazon, has a listing where a person can hear sample clips of the songs on that album. When I listened to this song, it played the other version of this song. The versions are only ever so slightly different...you need to listen several times to notice the difference.

@mark11770011 I love this version also and had it on a Perry Como cassette tape, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Forever, that finally disintegrated on me. I notice you can buy it from iTunes.

You're right about the 2 versions. Don't know if "The Odessa File" ST album has ever been put on CD, but it's available on LP (Ebay usually has several for sale). Perry Como's album "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Forever" is available on CD (Ebay, Amazon). I like the latter version alittle better -- just sounds richer. BTW, it was played in "The Odessa File" during the opening credits while Jon Voight is driving around Berlin during Christmas, 1963, (JFK assassinated the month before).

I've looked for years and never found it on CD or cassette. I love it and would like to play it every Christmas.

@gsw55 Thank you for your info. I'll be looking for that LP!

@teddyg04 You are incorrect. The version on the cd "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Forever" is the version I'm not looking for. The version in this youtube account by gsw55 is the one I'm looking for. It is slightly different.

@mark11770011 You can find it on the cd "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Forever." Available on amazon.
There are 2 versions of this Perry Como song, both are very similar. This one is the one used in the opening of The Odessa File. The other version is featured in other youtube postings. I personally like this one better. Can anyone tell me where to find a CD of this version? What a great voice this man had!

@mark11770011--This version comes straight from my copy of THE ODESSA FILE soundtrack LP. I don't know if the soundtrack was ever released on cd. Maybe you can find the LP at a second hand record store.
