A short Palouse River & Coulee City RR (PCC) train rolls east on former Washington, Idaho & Montana Ry. tracks at Palouse, WA, August, 1997. The lead locomotive (GP-30 #4109 ex-KCS), still bears lettering from PCC sister railroad South Kansas & Oklahoma, while the trailing engine (GP-35 #2268 nee-PRR) still wears Conrail blue paint.

  • looks like the ozark valley that runs here in mexico mo

  • Is the Ozark Valley also a WATCO-owned line? If so that would explain the resemblance.

  • An interesting update, that lead loco, GP30 #4109 was wrecked, 2004 and then scrapped in 2005.

  • Yeah, it was a pretty harrowing episode, with the 4109 and BLMR engine (784, maybe) running away on the hill int Colfax. Both engines jumped the track while still up on the hill, and started to slide down into the Palouse River. Fortunately, there were trees in the way that kept the wreck from becoming a lot messier. The crew walked away. I have photos of both damaged units sitting in Colfax before they got cut up.

  • yes they are

  • Wow. It'd be interesting to see those pictures. Thank goodness the crew walked away.

  • almost like street running in Palouse too...

  • Nice horn sound, so often it's just all distorted, but it's barley distorted here.

  • Great video...
