all the naysayers are missing the point, he hated Cherry Pie because it was forced on them. rememeber, he said the album was finished. it was something to be proud of by the band. then they were forced to write a "love in an elevator" type single. and if you listen to the album, all songs are connected in a way except for.......you guessed it, Cherry Pie.

Lost soul! Cherry-Pie was just one song. The fans loved more than that. Sad he focused on that. So many other great songs they did and would have liked to heard them play live. Sad how a soul gets lost and can't see the forest from the trees.
