and as for gases leaking out of the curtain, that's complete and utter nonsense and if your shower curtain does that you're either burning it or it's not PVC.

PVC in itself is completely harmless and can't poison you, as depicted the cartoon so the baby will never be poisoned by putting the PVC duck in it's mouth. The problem comes when we try to recycle it because it doesn't degrade and releases toxic gases when incinerated.

So if PVC is poisonous, why is it no problem at all to put it in a aquarium, or use as (drinking)water pipes??

Though I don't know anything about how PVC is made, maybe the by-products are toxic?
