When soldiers are injured on the frontline in Afghanistan, it's the para jumpers that have to go in by helicopter and rescue them from the battlefield. It's a nightmare job -- retrieving horribly injured colleagues, while coming under more attack themselves.

Sean Smith from The Guardian spent a month and a half in Afghanistan, seeing first-hand what they have to go through and getting a no holds barred look at life on the frontline. He also followed United States marines on foot patrol, in 55 degree heat and under frequent attack... they're trying to reach Pakistan to secure the border, but it's taken them a year to move just 20 kilometres.

  • @nicky69691 my former partner at pd joined the Marines and was trained to be a cobra mechanic he spent more time doing convoy escort than working on cobras hes quadraplegic now. when I was young I wanted to be tougher than my father when young you dont think about the consiquences of killing people and youbelive the romantism of war. only later do you learn difernt

  • @nicky69691 were you with 278th acr my best friend served with them 14 years

  • @sass225 very good advice. i was a cavalry scout in the army which means i could of made a good living in the civilian world if it was 1874 lol. if my son want to join the military ill tell him to join the air force learn to work on the planes then get a good job at some place like boeing or lockheed martin

  • @nicky69691 Sometimes it still bothers me not to be going to watch over the kids. eventualy time comes when you cant be a marine or solder anymore. I urge you young men that are going into the military get training that will let you make a living after you get out. combat enginers= constrution worker, mp=cop step son spent 6 years airforce got out a sgt learned computer programing makes good money now. all im saying is learn more than how to pull a trigger

  • @nicky69691 these young men probly wont belive you heads filled will glory talk. nothing glorious about it. like men 20 years ago some want to test themselves and see how they hold up. the traing that us forces get is good. but someone can do everything text book perfect and still get killed or wounded but there are more people killed in traffic accidents in us than combat deaths if its your time it just is once there cherrys popped they will never know the naive/innocence again.

  • If you really want the best footage from Afghan, see all wardythethirds posts, all are outstanding

  • hiya miau wer will camen

  • @gamersofsound009 Trust me, you do not want to go to war. Ive been there and the soldiers that were all gung ho and talking about how many kills they were going to get, were the first ones to start crying when the bullets start flying. There is nothing to prepare you for what your about to experience

  • @wardocumentaryfilms

I hear you on that, if he was so worried about it being seen a year ago, he should have uploaded it his damn self!

  • wtf r we doin in some1 elses land sersly.
