We migrated a system for tracking youth enrollment for programs from an MS access database to the salesforce non profit ed. Additionally gave the ability to track youth attendance for each day that the program was in session, and run reports on the attendance session and the average program session.
We used triggers to copy the list of enrolled youths to automatically generate the list of daily session attendances to save the user time. Then a visual force and apex for a visual force page to allow the user to update the attendances if present or excused absence. The youth only get points if present.
Other features include:
Outcomes: used to track the totals for questions answered by youth, family, partner sponsors
quotes: for when youths say or do something that shows they learned from the program
Legacy attendance tracking: In the access database attendances were just a total number on the enrollment, so this total is combined with the total present from the attendance to get grand total for each of the youths going forward.
