When I was a kid we used to " run the wave" along the breakwater. No railings in them days, ended up being swept on to the little shore side once. Dangerous but bloody exciting.

brings back good memories when I was a kid, digging the rag and lug for pocket money, the boys club, dutch boats coming in giving the kids free smoked herring straight out the barrel, watching the dredger, the greasy pole, swimming in the dolphin, the colliers filling the coal from the staithes, cleeking and last but not least scramptions on me pie and chips at the harbour chippy, Heaven!!!

the kid that drowned yrs ago, flowers have been left there ever since, and did you hear about the ghost apperition female that jumped to her death of the cliffs close the cliff house, supposedly happens every yr, another incident happened a few yrs back fishermen fishing off the quarry wall beside the cliffouse were disturbed by a male ghost apperition when the ghost kept medling with there fishing rod, so the next time you go fishing off there remember how many of you there are

this is nothing, do you live in amble, i do and have seen some hellish waves about 20 ft high and completely engulf the paddlers and cliff house!!

Mind today was another story, about 5 boats hav sunk in the river due to massive trees catching on the moorings, now thats scary!!!

Some kid and his mate were dodgin waves their but one wave caught him and threw him into the water, he was knocked unconcious and drowned his mate tried to save him but had no luck the life gaurds had to pick up a dead corpse this was a years ago..

got to agree with everyone here i also used to dodge the waves aswell as a kid unknown of the dangers, also seen it a lot worse than that too even if you fell in there you`re a goner as a kid did years ago and he was a GOOD swimmer God rest his soul
