One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. There are very specific reasons why we should drop the embargo on Cuba.

1. The embargo has simply not worked as it has not fomented a democratic government.
2. The policy is inconsistent given our relationships with other communist states like China, the defunct USSR, the defunct Yugoslavia, the defunct Czechoslovakia, and apartheid South Africa.
3. The embargo has disproportionately affected the masses as opposed to the government.
4. Lastly but most important; given our 90 mile proximity, our national security will be enhanced by having a friendly government with a vested interest in our well being.
