Even in the modern world, in many countries homosexual activity is acceptable. In places like Iraq it is not uncommon for men to engage with other men for pleasure (Or with younger boys), and it's culturally acceptable. The greeks did have a lot of homosexual behavior, but it was culturally acceptable (At some times, in some places -- Not always though), and the militaries would spend months/years on the road with no interaction with women.

alot of people were homosexual back then because when they trained for war from very little they were only around other boys so they experimented... such as Athens and sparta my history teacher in 11th grade said that most of them participated in homosexual activity

Alexander probably wasn't gay when you think about it. Do you think a "feminine" man would walk right up to a wild horse and tame through nothing more than the force of your own personality? Does that not strike anyone as something of a contradiction? Do you think a "feminine" character could lead 40,000 war-hardened, brutal soldiers to conquer such a vast empire? Give me a break! To quote Ben Wade, "Kid, I wouldn't last 5 minutes leading an outfit like that if I wasn't as rotten as hell"
