Why do dot coms feel they must have an open office floor plan. It has become the new orthodoxy. And, yes, people do need their own space to concentrate. Studies have shown significantly lowered productivity with OOFP. It seems like aesthetics and desire for a "cool" office is leading while ignoring fact that no one is anywhere near 100% when person next to you is talking, drinking tea, coughing, etc, etc, etc, etc.
