Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton began a visit to Indonesia on Wednesday in a continuation of the Obama administration's efforts to rehabilitate America's image abroad. (Feb. 18)
Oh god - never heard of it. So it's a physical injury not a mental disorder. That's awful. I've read stories where soldiers are killing their wives - there were like 3 in 1 month reported in the news while another was a pregnant woman who was raped. I believe all of this is part of PTSD & not being able to cope civilian life.
Wow, sorry that you had to go through that. I have a friend who was sweet & gentle before he went to Iraq - my brother told me that he had cut off a goat's head, placed a cig in it's mouth w/a note that said "Smoking is hazardous to your health." War does crazy things to good people.
There's been reports of raping children, murders, and kicking a severed head around like a soccer ball. 24 servicemen home from Iraq committed suicide just last month - many have PTSD. I don't think our troops kill on purpose but when mistakes are made they're covered. I suppose that happens in all wars but these men surely have the right to speak out about it without fear of retaliation by our government.
I understand that - I certainly don't blame our troops because it was failed policies which sent them there. However they're out now & speaking out against the travesty which took place. They should know, seeing it first hand. Now they're coming out about Gitmo which is going to come back to bite Bush in the ass.
There are troops returning home who are speaking out about our military covering up civilian deaths. They, too, have consistently stated that the number of dead civilians are much more higher than reported. When civilians are killed their commanders tell them not to worry, "We will take care of it." There is zero justification for killing children & in Iraq (as in Palestine) the highest percent of causalities are kids. And we're suppose to be a Christian country? Can't stand Bush
Ithom33- Yes, Agree. Madeleine Albright did not have a problem with the figure of 1/2 million dead Iraqi children as early as in the mid 90's. (60 Minutes.) It only rated a :"Well, shit happens".
There is also the future effect of the DU left from the US ordnance to take into account. And I fail to see how the killing of Iraqi children can be justified because of what happened in Lebanon and elsewhere. No, it's all about control and pillage. And yes, US popularity has plummeted under GWB.
All the people(and I use the term people loosely) all over the world, hate America. We slaughter billions and billions of innocent women and children daily, for the fun of it. Why, we have bullits that just kill baby's. Oddly though, if we opened our borders to everyone, all those America haters would be running, flying, boating and swimming here by the billions. Odd, isn't it?
If you're talking about the truck load of explosives that killed our marines - In 1982, Israel viewed the Syrian & PLO presence in southern Lebanon as a threat & attacked. We were there as peacekeepers. Terrorist' demand in '93 was to end US aid to Israel, an end to US diplomatic relations with Israel. It's because of Israel's blatant violation of international laws. They are occupying the Gaza & West Bank when they're not suppose to even be in there! Hot dogs are much less complicated.
It was Bush who dismissed the study as "not credible," without offering his own estimate, or explaining why that estimate was "not credible." Well we all know what a great liar he is. Truth is this: 3aEvzuA4f0c&feature=related
By the end of 48 hours, 800 Tomahawk cruise missiles had fallen on women & children. Easily thousands were killed on that day alone. Our troops are raping their children, kicking a severed head like a soccer ball, etc & everyone here goes on as if nothing has happened.
