  • i dont even watch tennis,,but i always stayed on the channel when this theme came on,,,,,Classic!

  • I hope bud collins goes to ESPN I hope li na can win wimbledon next year

  • No more Wimbledon on NBC. :(

  • Another Sampras Agassi classic at the All England Club. lol

  • @marcio3santos Interesting. I hadn't thought of it that way. Watch for NBC to use this and their Wimbledon theme during tennis at the London Games next year. They still use "Roundball Rock" whenever they televise Olympic basketball.

  • @odonnelljosh ok, i appreciate the response, didn't remember the details of how much coverage HBO aired actually but I'm glad I wasn't wrong in recalling that at one time HBO did cover Wimbledon at one point though not extensively. Now ESPN will pretty much cover Wimbledon as they do now with the Aussie Open. Living in the US, not sure that any other channels have coverage of Aussie Open other than Tennis Channel.

  • Bad Karma: NBC didn't play this song during the Men's final (they played a cheesy alternative when showing highlights) so fate did not smile happily upon them in losing the rights to future Wimbledons! NBC will have their Wimbledon swan song at next year's 2012 Olympics, then it's bye bye... BTW- considering NBC way overpaid for the rights to the Olympics thru 2020, it's probably the main reason they were outbid by ESPN for Wimbledon...

  • @damonave HBO used to basically have what ESPN aired the past few years in the 90s, except a bit less coverage.

  • @tmack85ive ESPN didn't use the bottomline for coverage of any of the 3 Grand Slams this year. I don't see why they would for Wimbledon next year. In fact, IIRC, Wimbledon bans them from doing it.

  • agreed, I am a bit surprised that NBC wont have coverage either. Was it also true that at one time HBO used to have a significant amount of coverage of Wimbledon? It's sort of a tradition to watch Wimbledon on NBC though. What's interesting is that with Tennis Channel around, it's almost most difficult for them to really be the exclusive carrier of the slams despite them being 'Home of the slams'
