Actually, brushing out the teasing will cause even more damage. Whereas washing your hair and untangling it in the shower with a ton of conditioner allows it to somewhat untangle on it's own, so the hairs "slide" by each other. When you use a brush to brush everything out, it creates a TON of breakage.
