A resident wild great horned owl hangs around Free Again every summer and usually has a nest nearby with a screaming baby. Through observation, she's learned that the owls being rehabilitated at the center are fed at a certain time every night and waits patiently on top of the flight cage for the person with the food to come out. If you are not paying attention, she will swoop down on you in an attempt to get free food. Because of that, she has to be distracted and a piece of raw chicken, venison, rat, or whatever can be found is used to keep her off of our heads!
