Bobby Harwell's portrayal of Lloyd--a man who has been in hiding from the U.S. government for years after being the sole survivor of a metaphysical experiment that went wrong--should have earned him an Academy Award, period. Watch the movie and you will see.
Another thing about this brilliant film; it doesn't matter who did something first or not...is life some kind of ego contest of personal glorification or are we here to get on with the challenges of life for the common good of us all? Its wonderful that the "Blair Witch Project" showed that a great movie can be made by any of us using a video camera! Let's use this film GENRE and empowerment to us all, to tackle some areas that greedy and corrupt Hollywood would never make a movie about--like the Wicksboro Incident. How much security in numbers is there? Could the U.S. government wipe out an entire town and get away with it? Damn right they could and they have already done it. Look at the mining townspeople that were massacred in the 1880s. Its hard to tolerate the TV series "Little House on the Prairie", but the FINAL EPISODE where a greedy corporation seizes control of the town due to a government mistake redeems the entire series by laying down a profound warning to us all. It can happen again to us today.
SYNOPSIS
80 minutes - 2001
In this science fiction-themed documentary feature, a pair of filmmakers, Mike (Dan Brinkle) and Gary (Kyle Nudo), are working on a project about Lloyd (Bobby Harwell), an elderly man with a remarkable, if dubious, story. Lloyd claims that in the 1940s he invented a machine that could read the alpha rays given off by human beings and that a test of the machine led to the sudden disappearance of the entire population of Wicksboro, TX. Mike and Gary find Lloyd's story fascinating, though hardly credible, but as they visit what remains of Wicksboro, they learn that there may be more truth to Lloyd's story than they imagined. The Wicksboro Incident received its world premiere at the 2001 Hollywood Film Festival.
