Pulse 87.7 Program Director, Joel Salkowitz, discusses how the station came about and how 87.7 status was recently changed by Arbitron to include it as a regular radio station, instead of being subjected to custom reporting status, which is harder to sell to advertisers.

PULSE FM was New York's best dance oriented radio station. Their playlist had substance and depth.. unlike WKTU which was like listening to FLEA MARKET RECORDS... or the new PARTY FM.. which sounds more like PUKE FM. I listened to it for a week, checking it's material, but I started to have migraines and felt nauseous, so I had to cut it off.
