Canada Trip Day 2 - The Needles Highway

The second day of my Canada trip. The Needles Highway is in The Black Hills of South Dakota. Another MUST ride!

I came upon a sign in Montana that said, "Road construction ahead. Muddy conditions. Motorcyclists advised to take an alternate route." I rode through maybe a block of play doh. A little later, about 30 miles from my destination, Miles City, MT; I was hit with a cross gust that was clocked at 56 MPH. Then more wind, rain and a 20 degree temperature drop. Hid out in a rest stop for 20 minutes, and as quickly as that storm happened, it disappeared.

@navythomas8 I had been on it as a kid on a family vacation, and then in the mid 80's driving a car. I knew I had to take a bike on it. I knew you would like the commentary.

@Hank2wheels I had to look up pillion because I was unfamiliar with the word. The on-line dictionary said it was primarily a British term meaning the back seat of a horse, motorcycle, etc. Dang, I had to learn something. I hate when that happens. Later, I couldn't remember the term, so I looked up "back seat of a motorcycle." The first thing that came up was "bitch seat." Because of me, I think you owe RWR an apology. But so does Tom; see his comment above.

@really2ugly You're right, it's definitely on my list. I use all my vacation to visit with my 87 year old father in Florida, but down the road I'll be making some trips out west (if the economy will straighten out and I can retire!).
