OK, the results from the HDTV Coat Hanger Antenna build were so staggering I decided to redouble my efforts!

I doubled up the elements to 8 bay and added some chicken wire to catch any stray signals and bounce them into the back of the antenna. This part REALLY worked well. I was using a different Digital convertor box so all signals were down slightly.

Once tower mounted I was getting all digital channels available here in the metro area, total cost of this double "Coat Hanger" antenna was around $5 thats for two Transformers (balum) at $2 each. All other materials were free.

The wire I used this time was galvanized fence wire, I spotted it at a locally where it was all twisted up and if the truth be told was a hazard to people and wild life. I seen a male deer when I was recycleing it!

So removing it from the enviroment and reuseing it was a win win situation!

The signals seemed to be just slightly better than the Single Coat Hanger antenna above but when the reflector was added I really seen the signal JUMP!

Fun stuff, great way to pass a Sunday while taking in the Twins Game!

The mesh does not touch anything, it's simply nailed to wood behind the elemants, around 2" away. The cables come together with a simple cable splitter in reverse. An Amp may well help but will but I had no need, as I am getting everything I can here in the metro area.

The dish did not really help as it was so low to the ground but will work just as good as mesh, but with antenna its all about height.

  • No amps, I have used tham and they help, but it's over kill here, I get all the channels now.

  • Did this antenna give you better reception than a single coat hanger antenna?

  • YES, but just around 25% more, so I gave up after the triple version!

  • hey man you should try marketing this you could make some major money

  • I would just blow the money on more antenna : )

  • Makes a great clothes dryer too !

  • Weather-Proof, yet built on an untreated wood frame.

    Fail.

Should've used something else for the base. The rest was well thought out!

Put a rotator on it, and get stations from all around.

    Overall, good work!

  • what song is playing in this video?

  • 4 way slplitter but 2 in ,4out? or all out?

  • Can I use aluminum foil as a reflector if I attach it to the back?

  • Yes use a 4 way splitter, you may or may not need an amp also. Try with just the 4 way splitter 1st

  • Is it posible to connect 4 tv`s to a single antenna like this one????????

  • I think the signal would've been better if you used a CM JOIN-TENNA instead of a splitter. Are you using a pre-amp or normal amplifier?
