  • IOW

It is very obvious that this video is intended to promote a narrow and stereotypical view of what "racism" really is, and one that is intended to support "hate crime" legislation.

But I dont really care about this video.

It was so poorly done that it is really not worth commenting on or arguing about.

I dont see how it could be used for any purpose.

  • man what a creative imagination you have. no where in my video does it say that what is being displayed is the only form of racism that there is. there are many forms and levels: racism within a race, quiet racism, and even hostile racism (which is depicted in the video) and im making and assumption here (please note this) but you must live in a sheltered neighborhood because hate crimes such as this one (and even worse ones) are heavily prominent in many communities around the world.

  • something should be done about them. nothing is wrong with hate crime legislation as long as its reasonable and within the limits of law. i agree this video was poorly done because it was done in a matter of hours and it shows. but if you say this video has no worth commenting on you are wrong since you are only one who has commented the most. sometimes the most miniscule of things provoke the most debate. learn to open your mind and not see every educational message as cut and dry

  • I actually do have an open mind.

And that is what leads me to see your video in a different light.

It is not really about what it pretends to be about.

Nobody thinks to themselves that racism is great or that violence is great.

And if you look for "hate crimes", you can start to see them literally everywhere, which does have a negative effect on society.

  • Well I guess it might take someone with a creative imagination to see how predictable and unimaginatvie this depiction was.

The way you try to connect murder/physical violence with underlying attidudes and beliefs in order to support special "hate crime" legislation is typical.

(oh but youre not claiming that this is the definitive example)

Nobody is for violence, or for hatred, or for racism, which all exist.

Would you consider gang violence to be a "hate crime"?

  • This reminds me of the Violence Against Women PSA's

Show images of totally one sided conflicts which would never occur in real life, where one side is the perpetrator and the other is the victim.

    And call it "awareness raising".

But really it is intended to encourage people to think about the issue in a black and white way (and promote the charities/industries which are there to "solve" the problem).

So yes, self interest is usually involved.

  • but in this case how is biased wrong? biased against racists? education can be militant and forceful. teaching racists and people who are ignorant of its extreme danger is education but then again education is subjective. because whereas i see it as necessary learning you see it as biased.

  • arrogance is evident in your pretentious language and in your absolute reasoning. and you said "sending a message against something is not "education" it is propaganda" you are missing a key part of what defines propaganda. which is a self interest. racism is a negative thing in society and so displaying a video against racism is education. hmmm... welll i guess it can be biased if racist people are watching this video and dont believe in advancing society.

  • sending a message against something is not "education" it is propaganda.

It does not matter if you agree with the propaganda, or if you disagree with it, that is what it is.

For people who don't already know what racism is (nobody) this would be educational.

Does that make me sound arrogant?

What gives you the impression that I am "arrogant"?
