despite what everyone may think, this movements are VERY complicated, look at his head how it never bobs up and down, look at the feet and the grace there is in those small steps... in the end look at how even when he submits the enemy, he doesn't destroy it, or overpowers him... Aikido is all about harmony, between you and the erratic energy your opponen may have

It's illegal in UFC because it's dangerous. You get someone in one of these moves and they don't know ukemi you can easily break their arm or wrist.

Indeed. I'm a white belt, the first thing they're teaching me is Tai Sabaki. Lots and lots of stumbling happened :P

I just started Aikido. It's very interesting and there are a lot of subtle details that you have to constantly be aware of. I'm in the beginner class so we're just learning kaiten and ukemi. Love it!

i kind of just find aikido to be too much in the way of practiced impracticality. i know that there is some very useful things to be gained from it, like footwork. Aikido really acquires good footwork to be developed and honed. and they do show some great technique. but i think that alot of what they call practical and applicable in a real fight, just wouldn't stand up. but then again i may not be looking in the right places.

I have had many years of Karate Shotokan, and I acquired quite a striking technique; Later on, I trained Aikido and learn that no matter how good your striking game is, due to the nature of Aikido, the more power one applies or charges with, the easier it is to apply Aikido techniques. I believe it would be a great mind opener and a tremendous asset for you as a wrestler. Cheers!
