This is the first track off of Pelican's 2003 self titled EP.

NOTE: If there is any problem with me uploading this, I have absolutely no problem with taking it down.

  • pelican are pretentious assholes...they don't even want to be associated with this EP because they feel they "have moved beyond it" or some such art school malarkey.

  • @MMZen

I don't particularly care, but I haven't really listened to much of their newer stuff...so whatevs, I kinda dig what you're saying.

  • this was the song that got me into Pelican, i think i heard it some time in 2004. it really hit me hard and i played it over and over. havent felt like that about a song since

  • The night I got this album, I remember listening to it on the drive home, I took a back route through a miscellany of woods, and I can clearly remember listening to "Mammoth" and "Forecast for Today" with the full moon gleaming down on the road. That alone, made me love this album to death, I don't really think any of pelican's other albums will ever do it for me like this one did, just because of that absolutely surreal experience by itself.

  • @MMZen

They were the nicest people when I met them. Plus, they played mammoth as recently as October 4, 2011 in Chicago.

  • @MMZen I saw pelican about 4-5 years ago, and we were chanting MAMMOTH, MAMMOTH over and over and they played it. it rocked.

  • I worked with Larry at Whole Foods in Chicago... I went to their show at the Fireside, got incredibly drunk, and had a hell of a time... a short time later his other band, Bloody Tusk was playing a "art show" and he handed me this EP... still showing my students this track when they ask what music I like...

  • One of the best songs I've ever heard. Helped me find calmness in rough times. Loved walking the streets of the city, listening to this on repeat, watching people run around... puts sound to the essence of life.

  • @XxSconeManxX That's a cool story.. Glimmer is the track that did it for me. Especially the outro. I can never get sick of it. I hope they never get a singer, I'd be really disappointed if they did.

  • @starshiptrooper79 No, it was released as a DEMO in '01, and then re-released as an EP in '03.

  • how can something be more beautiful than this?
